The jury is still out on the environmental damages caused by the BP spill. Recent scientific evidence indicates that the oil-eating bacteria are failing to function at great sea depths, and the oil is continuing to do severe damage to the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem.
It has always been my opinion that the use of dispersants to cause the oil to go to the bottom (out of sight) was the worst possible scenario.
